Exciting renovations ahead for NLES

The John Glenn School Corporation has approved some much needed and exciting renovations for the building and grounds of North Liberty Elementary School. A total renovation and update of the Media Center will take place over the Summer months. The parking lot will be enlarged to include many new parking spaces for staff and visitors. This additional parking will be in the area that is currently used for tennis courts. But never fear tennis fans! While three courts will be removed, the two remaining courts will be renovated, providing a much more pleasant tennis-playing experience. Also in the works is improvement of the traffic flow at the school. The street in front of the school will be extended through and connected to Wolfe Street, simplifying access to State Road 23 from the school. This will most likely be made one-way to enhance safety.

Julie Whitmer Wins $2500 Monsanto Award

Julie Presents Award Check to Board Members

Julie Whitmer of North Liberty has been selected as a winner in America’s Farmers Grow Communities, which gives farmers the opportunity to win $2500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations. The donations are available through the Monsanto Fund. Julie designated the North Liberty Community Building to receive the award in St. Joseph County.

Thank you, Julie, for sharing this award with your community – and for all of your hard work as President of the North Liberty Community Building Association!

The North Liberty community is looking forward to our newest business – a SUBWAY Sandwhich and Salad Shop. It’s fun to watch the new building under construction at 129 N Main Street and good to anticipate a popular eatery in place of a previously empty lot. Better Book World Bin at NLES!

There is something new at North Liberty Elementary School! A Better World Book Bin has arrived. Your donation of used books will be collected by BWB, sold either on the internet or at one of their retail outlets, and then part of the profits will come back to NLES. Another portion of the proceeds will help a local literacy program, The Robinson Center in South Bend, and some books will be sent to developing nations so that their children have books to read.
Your part is easy! Simply remember to drop off your used books in the bin on the south end of the NLES parking lot. BWB will take care of the rest!

Thanks so much for participating in this thoughtful way to recycle books while earning a little money for NLES!

All three lakes are excellent for boating and fishing, and Worster Lake also has a swimming beach. North Liberty has a police department, volunteer fire department, and ambulance service to South Bend, LaPorte, or Plymouth
